Get CloserArtist: Keith Urban

Album: Get Closer

Release Date: 16 November 2010

Review:

One year after the great Defying Gravity, Keith Urban is back with this new album, full of surprises. And yes, after two previous CD that marked a change in tone, the singer offers us again strong tempos, catchy and cheerful. One feels that he is happy, there is a romance and some emotion to listen to tracks like Put You In A Song, You Gonna Fly. In fact there is everything, his side a little bit slower than his last albums, but also his catchy side of his first opus. This CD is a concentrate of everything that he did, a concentrate made in Keith Urban. So even if you are a surprise because there are only 8 songs, we always love this little back to the source. We find Sarah Buxton and Jedd Hughes writing with the artist. Note that the Canadian and Australian editions have 3 live bonus tracks in addition, not present on the American version. I can’t resist to listen in loop the song Long Hot Summer, it's been so long since we have such a ballad with catchy electric guitars and banjos, and Keith course. Some may say that the tunes are a bit simple, but Keith Urban really gives life to these songs, a good album, we are really waiting for the next one.

Greatest HitsArtist : Keith Urban

Album: Greatest Hits

Release Date: 20 November 2007

Review:

Imagine taking a compilation of Keith Urban’s 16 biggest hits and more than 12 video clips. Hum and here it is, this opus has arrived. New songs are quite successful in his quiet style so romantic. But we have fun to discover Romeo's Tune and Got It Right This Time (The Celebration), in addition to videos and everything. What more can I say?, everything has been said. Don’t try to resist, you won’t be able to. This compilation is the most successful, so why try to find excuses. Just for the music videos, it’s worth it.

Keith UrbanArtist: Keith Urban

Album: Keith Urban

Release Date: 19 October 1999

Review:

Here is the first Keith Urban album, the Australian edition back in 1997 and yes it’s a little bit outdated, but what do you, we try to review as much albums as possible. It’s clear that this young Keith has it all. The sound is more country pop, but we feel his full potential on Where the Blacktop Ends and But for the Grace of God. We recognize his guitar solos that were already present, yet it’s his first album, he doesn’t take full advantage. Here is an artist that seeks his way, at least at that time. A good start for a singer who never ceases to impose, to amaze us for our enjoyment. This is an album that we mustn’t forget.

Album: Days Go By

Release Date: 31 May 2005

Review:

Imagine a best of his two previous albums, Be Here (2004) and Golden Road (2002), plus an exclusive version of Days Go By, and you get a perfect compilation. If I would have liked to see Jeans On, the quality of this album gives you the chills. If like me you were constantly listening to both CD, now you can swift to this one. The songs are really well chosen and synchronized. This is one of the best country compilation ever, and no doubt that you must take the opportunity to discover this so much talented artist. So don’t deprive yourself, this is a must-have. This Australian and his country rock is here to stay.

Be HereArtist: Keith Urban

Album: Be Here

Release Date: 21 September 2004

Review:

Keith Urban do it again in this third CD where he clearly chose to highlight his romantic side, which will please the ladies. This album presents 13 songs, each has a story and each one has a melody. A pure romanticism, like Making Memories of Us with its important meaning, I think that I’ve never heard a so romantic song. But the artist doesn’t forget some more catchy tracks like Days Go By, Better Life, God's Been Good to Me. The most beautiful songs are You're My Better Half, Tonight I Wanna Cry, Nobody Drinks Alone, Theses Are The days. No doubt that with this CD, the artist marks a change or at least, he shows he is a unique singer, he’s now one of the best in the country. This album is an invitation to dream, close your eyes and you'll be overwhelmed.

Golden RoadArtist: Keith Urban

Album: Golden Road

Release Date: 08 October 2002

Review:

Impressive this album is a pure marvel and I choose my words. For his second album the Australian offers us a perfect synchronized CD, between ballads and rock songs. We start with a bang with songs like Somebody Like You where the violin blends perfectly with electric guitars, followed by Who Wouldn't Want to Be Me, so catchy. You can’t help but dance and tap your feet. But the Australian hasn’t forgotten the slow tempos as You'll Think of Me or Who Wouldn't Want to Be Me. His David Dunda’s cover, Jeans On is excellent. The ladies will fall with the song You Look Good in My Shirt. In fact all the songs are successful, a strong start for a CD that ranks directly among the best albums that's been given to me to listen. So do not deprive yourself of this one, because it’ll change your idea of country music. Besides the lyrics are beautiful, so what more can I ask for. Note also the participation of Rodney Crowell who wrote 2 songs.

Play OnArtist: Carrie Underwood

Album: Play On

Release Date: 03 November 2009

Review:

Third CD for Carrie Underwood, though I was a little disappointed by her second one, Play On will reconcile you with the singer. Carrie has a powerful voice and she proves us that she really knows how to use it, her texts are more worked;  we feel more maturity in this album. If I wasn’t hook by Cowboy Casanova, what comes next is flawless. We are surprised by the style of Quitter, where I thought she was Shania Twain, that's how the tone is. We have some catchy songs like Undo It, Songs Like It, I won’t forget the sublime What Can I say (with Sons of Sylvia) and Play on. That’s Carrie showing us what she does best, singing. Good ballads, an alchemy that takes a powerful and captivating voice, the young American if she stay in a rather country pop sound, allows us to have a good time with her, so let's play it.

Defying GravityArtist: Keith Urban

Album: Defying Gravity

Release Date: 31 March 2009

Review:

Not content with being one of the most popular country singers Keith Urban is trying to defy gravity with this new album. And there is no denying that it happens, like the previous one, these albums have become a little less affordable for everyman. This artist doesn’t cease to amaze me. This album deserves that you take the time to discover him, listening once, then a second and a third. It’s not one of those CD  which deliver  all its secrets at the first listening. The artist is a little less romantic made in  country rock from these beginnings, his music is a bit softer and his lyrics are a content that would fade more than one. We understand that the search for a soul mate is over, a marriage and a child has changed him, we can feel it in his music. Tracks like I'm In, Thank You are splendid. Sure sounds vary, we have some more rhythmic songs, some a little slower, the collection takes quite well. Note the acoustic bonus Sweet Thing allowing him to finish on catchy notes.

My Life

Artist:  Felicity Urquhart

Album: My Life

Release Date: 16 January 2007

Review:

Ha the Australian country music. I don’t know if you noticed but we particularly like this kind of country over here. And this pretty young Australian will make you love her country. I assure you. So of course, Good looks has nothing to do with her music but I must admit that the beautiful sings and that the album’ll give you the chills. Between No mistakes and That boy sure can jump a train, we are thrilled. One can only hope for a bright future because the album is a mix of songs punctuated with lovely ballads while making us dream, so it's a great success for the artist.

Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy Thing

Artist:  Keith Urban

Album: Love, Pain & The Whole Crazy Thing

Release Date: 07 November 2006

Review:

If I calculate well here is the fourth album from one of my favorite country singers, named Keith Urban. When talking about this singer, one can only think of the female madness, beautiful guitar solos, good romantic Country rock music. And I must say that the guitar styles, there isn’t much, no don’t go! The second track is reassuring, we won’t a slow album. Keith Urban gives us a different opus from these precedents, less electric guitars, more strings, violins, a rock sound but not only. He varies the rhythms like only he can do it. He captivates us with I Told You So, Won't Let You Down, I Can't Stop Loving You, Faster Car, he surprises us with the background sound using a female’s voice on Raise The Barn, then we have the beautiful God Made Woman. With this album the artist baffles us, exploring new sounds, new rhythms, surprising us by the composition while captivating us with his interpretation. He shows us what should be a great country singer, to make us react while having fun!

  Ranch

Artist:  Keith Urban

Album: The Ranch

Release Date: 1997

Review:

First of all I must thank our media for finding me such a CD, a Keith Urban album, before he was famous, from 1997 please. Frankly respect! What an artist this singer, he proves that he didn’t wait to be discovered to produce quality music. Pure Country Rock, some tracks are more acoustic. The whole provides a great freshness and an impressive energy, in short, a reference album. Whether with the very rock Walkin' in the Country and My Last Name, but also the slower as Desiree, one can’t but love. Also note, the cover song Some Days You Gotta Dance is particularly successful. A CD to listen for all of those who don’t like Country Music!

Carnival Ride

Artist:  Carrie Underwood

Album: Carnival Ride

Release Date:  23 october 2007

Review:

Country Music’s hope, American Idol’s winner is back for a second album. For a long time I was waiting. And here I must admit I am disappointed overall. The songs are alike, rhythms too. Even her beautiful voice can’t do anything, I am not hook. All-American Girl leaves much to be desired.. Get Out Of This Town and The More Boys I Meet avoids the worst at the album, while I Told You So show us what she can do. A cd that isn’t in line with the first, when your name is Carrie Underwood we can do so much better. Let’s expect the next one to find back this young talented singer.

Some Hearts

Artist:  Carrie Underwood

Album: Some Hearts

Release Date: 15 November 2005

Review:

The newcomer is American Idol last year’s winner, I wasn’t too motivated to listen to the album, but I was wrong, because this album is really well done. I particularly liked the lyrics on many tracks that are quite refreshing. We must admit that if Carrie Underwood is quite beautiful, yes let's face it, you are hook by her voice .... What a voice!. A well-composed album, some soft music and some other more rhythmic. She'll go far, far away, you don’t believe me? So listen to the following songs: Some Hearts; Jesus, Take The Wheel; Before He Cheats, Starts With Goodbye, We're Young And Beautiful, I Ain't In Checotah Anymore.
